'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Galbraith continues clash with Manchester City.

Ethan Galbraith grins broadly as he recalls the nail-biting closing stages of Swansea's epic comeback triumph against Nottingham Forest in the EFL Cup. The encounter wrapped up with Galbraith picking up a supporter's spectacles after the pitch-side pile-on.

With the clock ticking into the 97th minute, Galbraith rattled the woodwork with a long-range strike from distance, and his teammate promptly converted the deflection before racing off toward the East Stand to celebrate, with the crowd mobbing the players.

Extraordinary Turnaround

The result capped an extraordinary comeback given the Welsh side had trailed 2-0 midway through the latter period. In the celebrations, there was some minor mishaps. He shared, "There was a spectator trying to get our attention and myself and Keysy [Josh Key] were wondering: 'What's he on about here?' Then we spotted the glasses. It was a light-hearted moment putting them on. We are on the pitch as footballers but we're individuals, too, so to have a laugh with the fans is always good."

Manchester City Challenge

The victory secured a upcoming fixture at home against the Premier League champions on Wednesday, a team Galbraith pushed hard at the same stage of the FA Cup with Leyton Orient in February. He had a prime vantage point when his former team took the lead in spectacular fashion, with the attacker's first-time shot from about long distance going in via the crossbar and the City goalkeeper. Many argued that it was recorded as an own goal.

"You would have wished they would've awarded it to him for attempting the shot from that range," stated Galbraith, who started in midfield before moving to right defensive wing after they changed shape. That meant facing off against City's winger, with whom he swapped shirts, and the player was among the City players who paid tribute to the way the underdogs approached the match.

City's Quality

"Physically they are exceptional but even the fundamentals and routine actions, they can just do it over and over again," the midfielder notes. "It feels like they never miss a pass and they know how to dictate and neutralize a game. You can believe you're all right and then suddenly they will just fizz a pass past your midfield without you even seeing. You have to be alert at all times of the game. It demands a tough attitude and attention just to remain competitive."

Swansea Move

Swansea were keen on Galbraith in January and secured his signature to secure him in the summer in a £1.5m deal. He became a favorite as a popular figure across two seasons at Leyton Orient and has quickly achieved similar status in his new home. At Orient he joined forces once more with Richie Wellens, who previously gave Galbraith his debut prolonged spell in professional games on loan at Doncaster from Old Trafford. Then came a loan at fourth-tier the Manchester club, before he moved on from Manchester United.

Development Path

"I was probably a slightly green going into senior level. I think numerous professionals would say under-23s football is entirely separate. Sometimes it appears possession is exchanged without serious challenge. You see few hard challenges. Once you start playing first-team football you have to adapt rapidly."

National Team Success

His progress reflects that development for both domestically and internationally, performing well for his national side, who are fighting to qualify for the World Cup next summer via the playoffs and for whom he has been selected in the recent fixtures, including two matches fixtures against Germany. Ian Baraclough, Galbraith's previous international manager, paid him the supreme accolade, saying he was Northern Ireland's "creative maestro" given how he handles the football and his knack for a game-changing assist.

Early Days

It has been quite the ride for the kid from the neighborhood in his hometown, just outside Belfast, who grew up watching his parent, Stuart, also a central player, play for a local club.

Old Trafford Memory

The player's single match for the Red Devils came in Kazakhstan in 2019, a European competition trip to the Kazakh capital, where they played on an plastic turf and the stadium roof was closed owing to conditions of bitter cold. "It was a long trip and it was chilly," he says, grinning. "The week before, the academy prospects trained together, so that helped us acclimatise. Just to join the main group and get a couple of minutes at the end was unbelievable."

Departing Old Trafford

How difficult was it to leave United, the club he joined from Linfield aged 16? "The decision proved quite easy, because I reached the point where I knew I wasn't going to make it at first-team level. I'm hugely grateful for the experience gained but it reached a stage where I believed I required a fresh start, join a smaller club and play men's football. Now I'm steadily working my way back up."

Life in Swansea

This occurs during the early part of the afternoon at Swansea's Fairwood training base but Galbraith has an appointment at the early evening: a learner's exam, another move in the direction of getting on the road. Before his recent move to his new neighborhood, the mid-twenties player was a frequent passenger in Swansea's dubbed team minibus, a small coach driven by academy staff, the drivers, which transports players to and from practice and games.

"It's myself Gonçalo Franco, the Brazilian, an Ivorian player – a former passenger used to be in it but has started driving. It's pleasant to socialize with the lads but I'm hoping to be the next one to stop using the bus and on the road. His teammate likes to pull a few pranks; he's frequently playing tricks."

Public Engagement

When he represented Orient, Galbraith would mix with supporters on public transport after commuting at his base. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
